School Cancellation/Early Dismissal

Early dismissal or cancellation announcements are broadcast on:

KGLO - 1300 AM

KRIB - 1490 AM

KLSS - 106.1 FM

KCMR - 97.9 FM

KIA - 93.9 FM

KJCY - 95.5 FM

KSMA - 98.7 FM

KISS & KLKK - 103.7 FM

KIMT Television - Channel 3 will announce during the 6:00 a.m. and noon news broadcasts.

Television stations KIMT, KTTC and KAAL as well as the Globe Gazette also list the school closings, early dismissals and cancellations on their respective websites.

The Mason City Community School District currently offers a tool to help the district keep in communication regarding school closures through the Mason City Athletics/Activities Calendar which can be found by clicking on the link "Athletics/Activites Calendar" to the left on the district's website home page or click here now to go directly to the calendar page. Once the calendar page is available click on "Notify me!" On the "Notify me!" web page, click on "Screen 2" and check School Cancellation/Delay/Early Dismissal. Click on continue at the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions provided and you can set yourself up to receive automatic email notifications. You can also set yourself up to receive automatic e-mail notifications for any activities or changes to activity schedules listed on Screen 1 and 2 by clicking the box in front of the activities you wish to be notified about.
