Summary of the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting

May 14, 2007

The Board of Education Committee of the Whole met at 6:40 p.m., on Monday, May 14, 2007, in the Information Center of Roosevelt Middle School. Present were Samuel Hunt, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Gary Hoffman, Jim Spicer and Mark Young, Directors. Director Janet Isaacson was absent.

Director of Finance Ramona Jeffrey and Supervisor of Food Services Michael Carlson provided the Board with a report on the food services program.

Board President Hunt reported that Darshini Jayawardena had been contacted and is willing to fill the term of office being vacated by Director Isaacson. The Board directed administration to place an action item appointing Mrs. Jayawardena to the board effective June 3 on the agenda of the May 21 regular board meeting.

The Board discussed the possibility of an enrichment levy in the future to fund extended learning opportunities, in particular summer school, and technology.

Meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m. No action was taken during the work/study session.
