Summary of the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting

October 8, 2007

The Board of Education Committee of the Whole met at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, October 8, 2007, in the Information Center at Mason City High School. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors. Director Gary Hoffman was absent.

The District Facilities Committee met in joint session with the Board.

Harry Gilmore, Gilmore and Doyle, shared information regarding the geo thermal feasibility study for John Adams Middle School and Mason City High School as well as other energy saving technologies available.

Supervisor of Buildings and Ground Todd Huff reported on the facility projects completed over the past year, along with updates regarding on-going projects.

Energy Manager Rich Patras provided a report on the energy usage and savings for the 2006-2007 school year.

Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. No action was taken during work/study session.
