Summary of the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting

November 12, 2007

The Board of Education Committee of the Whole met at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, October 8, 2007, in the Board Room at Administration Building. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Gary Hoffman, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors.

Larry Sigel, school finance specialist for the Iowa Association of School Boards, provided information regarding the allowable growth formula, local option sales tax and instructional support levy used to assist Iowa school districts to meet the quality standards put in place by the Iowa Department of Education as well as unfunded mandates.

The consulting firm of Counsilman-Hunsaker shared a web based presentation related to their consulting services regarding swimming pools.

Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. No action was taken during work/study session.
