Summary of the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting

January 14, 2008

The Board of Education Committee of the Whole met at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, January 21, 2008, in the Board Room at the Administration Building. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Gary Hoffman, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors.

Doug Kennedy, Mason City High School Principal, and Donna McKay and Cheri Ross, Mason City High School teachers, provided the Board with a report on Iowa Model High School Project being sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education, the Area Education Agencies and the International Center for Leadership in Education.

Superintendent of Schools Keith Sersland and Director of Finance Ramona Jeffrey provided the Board with an update on district financials and facilities.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. No action was taken during work/study session.
