Summary of the Minutes of the Special Session of the Board of Education

February 15, 2008

The Board of Education met in special session at 12:20 p.m., on Friday, February 15, 2008, in the Board Room of the Administration Building. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors. Director Gary Hoffman was absent.

Gaylord Tryon and Dave Haggard from G. Tryon and Associates met with the Board to share information gathered from the focus groups and to develop a leadership profile which will be distributed to the focus groups and to discuss salary and benefit requirements.

The next meeting in the superintendent search process is a closed session scheduled for Monday, March 31, 2008, in the Board Room of the Administration Building from 12:00-3:00 p.m. to select five semi-finalists. Interviews of the five semi-finalists and selection of two finalists by the Board will be held in closed session on Friday, April 4, 2008, from 8:15 a.m.-8:00 p.m. The Board and focus groups will interview the two finalists on April 8 and 9. Thursday, April 10, 2008, the Board will meet in closed session from 5-7 p.m. to select the finalist.

Meeting adjourned at 1:35 p.m. No action was taken during work/study session.
