Summary of the Minutes of the Committee of the Whole Meeting

March 10, 2008

The Board of Education Committee of the Whole met at 5:30 p.m., on Monday, March 10, 2008, in the Information Center at Mason City High School. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Tim Becker, Gary Hoffman, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors. Director Michele Appelgate was absent.

Assistant Superintendent Hal Minear provided the Board with results of the wellness survey and copies of the instrument used. The five-year action plan related to implementation of the wellness policy was reviewed. The district’s wellness committee will be meeting to review the survey results and discuss progress on implementation of the policy.

The Board toured the John Adams Middle School and Mason City High School buildings and campus areas. The Board spent a significant amount of time in the John Adams pool area and women’s locker room area at the high school.

Meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m. No action was taken during work/study session.
