Summary of the Minutes of the Special Session of the Board of Education

April 4, 2008

The Board of Education met in special session at 8:15 a.m., on Friday, April 4, 2008, in the Board Room of the Wells Fargo Bank, 20 N. Washington Ave., Mason City, Iowa. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Gary Hoffman, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors.

A motion was made by Director Thoms and seconded by Director Becker to approve the agenda. A vote was taken resulting in ayes all.

A motion was made by Director Young and seconded by Director Hoffman to hold a closed session as authorized by section 21.5(1)(a) of the open meetings law to review or discuss records which are required or authorized to be kept confidential. A roll call vote was taken resulting in ayes all. The Board went into closed session at 8:16 a.m.

Director Thoms exited the closed session at 3:45 p.m.

At 6:15 p.m. a motion was made by Director Young and seconded by Director Becker to return to open session. A roll call vote was taken resulting in ayes all.

A motion was made by Director Young and seconded by Director Appelgate to adjourn. A vote was taken resulting in ayes all. The meeting was adjourned at 6:16 p.m.
