Summary of the Minutes of the Special Session of the Board of Education

April 5, 2008

The Board of Education met in special session at 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 5, 2008, in the Board Room of the Administration Building. Present were Jim Spicer, President; Michele Appelgate, Tim Becker, Gary Hoffman, Darshini Jayawardena, Robert Thoms and Mark Young, Directors.

A motion was made by Director Becker and seconded by Director Young to approve the agenda. Ayes all.

A motion was made by Director Young and seconded by Director Hoffman to hold a closed session as authorized by section 21.5(1)(a) of the open meetings law to review or discuss records which are required or authorized to be kept confidential. A roll call vote was taken resulting in ayes all. The Board went into closed session at 12:01 p.m.

At 2:45 p.m. a motion was made by Director Becker and seconded by Director Hoffman to return to open session. A roll call vote was taken resulting in ayes all.

A motion was made by Director Becker and seconded by Director Hoffman to invite Dr. Anita Micich and Dr. Marvin L. Wade as finalists for the Mason City Community School District Superintendent of Schools position. Ayes all.

A motion was made by Director Hoffman and seconded by Director Becker to adjourn. Ayes all. The meeting was adjourned at 2:46 p.m.
