Oliver Scholarship Fund Reaches Over $9,500

 

            Fund-raising is in progress to endow a $15,000 scholarship in honor of Dean Oliver, former Mason City Mohawk basketball stand-out and four-year point guard for the University of Iowa.

            Once endowed the Dean Oliver Scholar/Athlete Award will be presented to a graduating senior at Mason City High School.  Exact criteria for the scholarship have yet to be determined.

            The scholarship will honor the example set by Dean Oliver as an outstanding athlete and student, who has been a positive role model for young people and a great ambassador for Mason City and all North Iowa.

            To date, the scholarship fund has reached $9,500.

            Anyone wishing to contribute to the Dean Oliver Scholar/Athlete Award may send their tax-deductible donations to Education Foundation of Mason City Public Schools, 1515 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, IA 50401.

            Checks should be made payable to the Education Foundation of Mason City Public Schools.
