Dear Parents/Guardians:

Report Cards:  Your son/daughter’s report card will be given to them on Friday, November 20 as the trimester ends on Friday, November 13.  The report cards are used to inform you of your son’s/daughter’s progress towards meeting the standards and benchmarks set by the Mason City School District for each class.  The report cards will also show your child’s overall grades by subject and teacher.

Friday, November 13 is a half-day for students as it is the last day of the trimester.  Students will be dismissed at 12:30 P.M.  Also, there will be no school for students starting on Wednesday, November 25 for Thanksgiving break.  Students will return to school on Monday, November 30.

There are some changes to the configuration of teams and schedules for the winter sports.  Boy’s basketball, both 7th and 8th grade, will begin on Monday, November 2nd while girl’s basketball will start in January, upon returning from winter break.  The teams will be organized as Mason City teams as members of the teams will consist of both John Adams and Roosevelt students.  More information will be provided to parents and athletes about practice and games before the seasons start. The 7th and 8th grade wrestling team will begin practice on Monday, November 30.

The JAMS Fall Band Concert will start at 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 3 in our gymnasium.

The school and teachers are in need of some small supplies for student lessons or activities.   If you are willing to donate one of these supply items you can do so by pulling the sticky note on the donation tree attached to one of the main office windows.  The teachers name and item needed is on the note.  Please write your name on the sheet next to the item so we know who will be donating.  Thank you for your support and help.

PTO:  The next PTO meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 10, starting at 7:00 P.M. in the IC.  We hope that all of you may attend.

The Mason City Community Schools’ 2009-2010 Calendar has the following days scheduled for make-up days for school cancellations:

-December 21 (winter break)

-December 22 (winter break)

-February 15 (President’s day)

Any additional days missed will be made up at the end of the school year.

Please also remember that bad weather will shortly be approaching and that a late start on every day will be based on an 8:10 A.M. start.  This even includes Tuesday mornings.  For example, a two hour late start would mean that students should be in their first period class by 10:10 A.M.

Sincerely,

T.J. Jumper
