MCHS Math Instructor Receives National Recognition

The Mason City Community School District is pleased to announce that Mason City High School mathematics instructor Gary Sinnwell has been selected by the Siemens Foundation and the College Board as a recipient of the 2006-07 Siemens Award for Advanced Placement.  Mr. Sinnwell is one of 50 teachers (one in each state) honored nationally this school year.

This award recognizes exemplary teaching and dedication to students and to the Advanced Placement (AP) Program.  In a pool of extremely strong candidates from the state of Iowa, Mr. Sinnwell’s enthusiasm for teaching AP and his willingness to go above and beyond to ensure students’ success is noted as “outstanding.”  His efforts to engage students in rigorous study embody the best in American education.

Established in 1998, the Siemens Awards for Advanced Placement exemplify the strong partnership between the Siemens Foundation and the College Board to expand and strengthen the pool of math, science and technology talent that we will need for the continued growth of business and industry in the United States and globally.

Congratulations to Mr. Gary Sinnwell for bringing distinction to both himself and to the Mason City Schools by being accorded this prestigious award of recognition!
