Currently at MCCSD, curriculum documents are stored on the T-drive. Specifically, within the CurriculumResources folder, which is in the All District folder residing on the T-drive. Once you are in the CurriculumResources folder, you will see various files and folders. For existing curriculums, you would open either the Elementary, Middle School, High School, or Pre-K folders and proceed within subfolders to find specific curriculums. There should be two main documents for a curriculum - a Curriculum Map which lays out the general timeline of events for a course for a school year, and Curriculum Sequence, which is essentially lesson plans organized into units. If you are starting to write a course from scratch, you should first complete the Curriculum Map (located T>All District>CurriculumResources>CurrMap templates, click HERE to access) for your course then proceed in developing a Curriculum Sequence (located T>All District>CurriculumResources>unit_templates, click HERE to access). Double click to open the Curriculum Sequence file, and immediately go up to File and Save, and place it in the appropriate building, grade level and/or subject folder on the T drive. Make sure you name it according to what course you are working on. Once saved, to edit in the future, navigate to the folder that you saved it in and open it to make changes. It is very easy to copy and paste various items into the template. Standards documents for all MCCSD subjects can be found on the Mason City Schools website ( http://www.masoncityschools.org/instructionalprograms/index.htm) while Iowa Core Curiculum Essentials for subjects can be found on the Iowa Core Curriculum website (http://www.corecurriculum.iowa.gov/Home.aspx). While working on your curriculum, you can have 3 windows open. One for your actual curriculum, another for a standards document, and the third for the ICC Essentials document. That will allow you to copy text from either document and paste into your curriculum document.
