District Powergrade Mandates...
The district requires that you follow the procedures below pertaining to Powergrade set up and use.

DISTRICT POWERGRADE MANDATES- K-12

*Assignments shall be linked to standards.  Do so by clicking the Standards button when entering a new assignment.

*An assignment can only be linked to 1 standard.

*If an assignment has parts to it that address different standards, the assignment shall be broken down into parts and entered into powergrade as separate assignments linked to the appropriate standard.

*Assignment Weights….  ALL Assignments must be weighted at 1.

*Teachers shall create their own assignment categories.

DISTRICT POWERGRADE MANDATES- ELEMENTARY

*Teachers should set up their own categories in each class.  The names of the categories should match the standards for the course.  To create categories, simply get into a class in powergrade, go up to the Windows menu and choose Categories..

*Reports…  Grade_Report_Q1_Categories is an example of an individual student Powergrade report that will group assignments together by category and gives the overall percentage for each category.

DISTRICT POWERGRADE MANDATES- MIDDLE SCHOOl & HIGH SCHOOL

*Categories must be set up to reflect 80% Achievement and 20% Productivity for final grade calculation. Productivity should be one of your powergrade categories and should be weighted at 20%. The remaining 80% can either be one category named Achievement, or it can be broken down into various categories, as long as the total of those categories comprises 80% of the total grade. Compare how two different teachers could set up their categories.

TEACHER A TEACHER B
Achievement (80%) Tests (40%)
Productivity (20%) Quizzes (20%)
  Final Project (20%)
  Productivity (20%)

*It is recommended, but not required, that assignment names begin with some identifier according to which standard that assignment addresses.  For example, let’s say you have a math quiz that addresses the standard “numbers and operations” which happens to be standard 1 for math.  You could enter the assignment as:

N&O:  Chapter 2 quiz

Or

1:  Chapter 2 quiz

This will be helpful later when you run reports on assignments that are alphabetized.  Try it.  Before running a student report, alphabetize your assignments on your spreadsheet.  Do so by:

  1. From the Utilities menu, select Re-order Assignments.
  2. Sort by name, then click OK

Now when you run a student report, assignments will be grouped alphabetically, by STANDARD.
