General Hints, Tips, & Tricks
Many computer problems can be solved by rebooting the computer:
Try to shut down/restart your computer down by using the start menu and selecting shut down -> shut down/restart.
If that doesn't work, try to turn it off by pressing the power button.
If it doesn't turn off, press the power button and hold it in for up to 10 seconds.
If this fails you could always unplug the power cord for the computer, wait a few seconds, and then plug it back in. .
For further assistance contact tech support.
If you try to print a document and it does not print, find out why before printing again:
Check to see if you selected the printer you think you did.
Check to see if printer is turned on.
Check to see if the printer is out of paper.
For further assistance contact tech support.
If you get an error message, record it as exactly as you can to give to tech support.

Computer/Program Not Responding
If your computer and/or program seems to be not responding you can try to end the task that is "hanging", or causing your computer/program to not respond.
You need to initiate the task manager by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL.
That is to say hold down the CTRL and the ALT key, and while continuing to hold them down, tap (lightly press and release quickly) the DEL key. Click on the Task Manager button. You should then see a screen similar to the following:

taskmanager

one of the applications should have "Not Responding" as its status. Hightlight that entry by single-clicking on it, then select the End Task button. Another window may appear, choose End Now from that window. You can try to run the program again, if it still hangs you will want to reboot your computer. If it still hangs you will want to contact tech support.

Printer Help - General Tips
When printing you should determine which printer the program is printing to.
Then you will know where to pick up the printing.
When you choose file -> print you will see a dialog box that tells you which printer is selected.
It also allows you to specify printing options.
You usually do not see this dialog if you just click the print button. If while in windows you choose start -> Printers and Faxes, you will see the printers that are available to print to from your computer. The one with the checkmark by it is your default printer.
That is to say it is where you will print if you do not specify different. While in printers and faxes you can change your default printer by right clicking the desired printer and selecting Set as Default Printer.
Until you change your default printer back, you will continue to print to the newly selected printer
