It seems many people are experiencing trouble with logging on and/or losing the connection. It appears their session on the server becomes congested - possibly from being disconnected and not being able to log off correctly.
The following procedure should help connections run smoother.
How to logon and logoff a citrix session.
- First, if your WYSE box has lost power, either unplugged, power outage, or other reason, be sure after plugging it in, to wait until the yellow indicator light goes off before turning the box on.
- Turn on by pressing the button.
- Wait patiently, it takes several seconds (maybe 45-60 or more) before the box begins to boot and present the logon screen.
- Agree to the usage statement by selecting OK.
- Login by entering your username and password, then select OK.
- When done with whatever you are using the box for, be sure to choose:
- Start
- Log off
- Log off.
NOTE: If you chose start -> shutdown - Be sure to select log off and NOT disconnect.(Choosing disconnect can cause connection problems with subsequent logons.)
- I wait until I see the agree to usage policy screen again.
- Then I press the power key to turn off the WYSE box.
- A countdown begins and I normally select yes which shuts the box down without waiting for the countdown to finish. (do not do that on wyse boxes in HS science labs - Just wait)
- With considerable patience, it will turn off.
NOTES:
- It is hard to tell if the machine is "working" or not - perhaps because it makes no sound.
- Please be patient and wait for something to happen after you have asked for it to.
- Sometimes it may take 20-30 seconds or more for a response.
- Please let me know of any questions/issues. Thank you.
- p.s. I hope somewhere in this message the concept of patience was expressed :}
