Microsoft Word & Powerpoint Files From Home to School (Students)
If you have a newer computer at home than what you use at school, you may also have a newer version of microsoft word or powerpoint. Because of this, you may have found that when you save files at home and try to open them at school, that it doesn't quite work! When you save a file at home, you'll need to save it as an older version if you wish to view it at school. To save either a Word or Powerpoint file as an older file, when you are ready to save simply follow these steps:
1. Choose Save As.
2. Name your file. Right beneath where you type in your file name, there is a pull down menu labeled Save as Type. Choose Word 97-2003 Document (if saving a word document) or choose Powerpoint 97-2003 Presentation (if saving a powerpoint file).
3. Click the Save button.
You can now bring your file to school on a floppy disk or flash drive knowing that it will open on any computer at school. If you wish to view a video of the process, click on either choice below.
