School Notification System Sign Up
The Mason City Community School District offers alerts through a school notification system to help keep in communication regarding school closures/dismissals/late starts and other important information. Parents can sign up through PowerSchool to receive automatic phone, email or text message notifications by signing into their student’s PowerSchool account and setting their Student Preferences. There are several categories available for announcement types and parents may select their preferences for each category. If you should have any questions or problems with setting your preferences, please contact your student's building office.
Tobacco-Free Campuses for Iowa's Schools
At the November regular meeting of the Board of Education, Superintendent Micich shared information with the Board about Iowa schools and tobacco-free campuses. In April 2004, the Mason City Community School District Board of Education approved Board Policy 905.2 - Tobacco Free District. Vocational Rehabilitation Services Available
Anyone 16 years of age or over with a physical or emotional impairment which creates a substantial impediment to employment and will require multiple Vocational Rehabilitation services over an extended period of time is encouraged to contact Susan Faber, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, serving Mason City High School. Phone 641-422-1551, ext. 44548 to schedule an appointment to learn more about these services. Examples of diagnoses are asthma, diabetes, cognitive impairments, learning disabilities, neurologic, hearing, speech, orthopaedic, psychiatric, and epilepsy. Examples of services are guidance and counseling, possible training assistance, possible tuition assistance in an approved rehabilitation training program, possible assistance with prosthetic devices, job placement assistance.
2018 Iowa School Performance Profiles
The Iowa Department of Education released today new online reports showing how public schools performed in a new accountability system that meets the Every Student Succeeds Act, a federal education law that replaced the No Child Left Behind Act.
The new reports, called the Iowa School Performance Profiles, include each school’s scores on a set of accountability measures. The reports display scores based on a school’s overall performance, as well as the performance of subgroups of students, such as children from low-income backgrounds.
How Does the District Come Up With Some of Those Fees?
Have you ever wondered what criteria or guidelines the school district uses to come up with some of the fees they charge?
